We came to roofing from the chimney, and that matters more than it sounds. The single most common leak on a shingle roof is at the chimney, where the flashing has to be woven into the shingles and cut into the brick. Roofers caulk it. We do it as masons: step flashing under the shingles, counter-flashing let into the mortar joint, and the crown and brick checked while we're up there. When we replace your roof, the chimney stops being the weak spot.

Common asphalt shingle problems we fix:

Replace it if shingles are curling or losing granules across the whole roof, if there are leaks in more than one place, or if it's past twenty years. We look at the actual roof and show you which situation you're in.

Architectural shingles are generally good for twenty to twenty-five years here. Ice dams, wind off the lake, and poor attic ventilation are what shorten that. A roof that's properly ventilated and has ice-and-water barrier at the eaves will reach the long end of that range.
