Chimney & Masonry Services in Sagamore Hills, OH

Sagamore Hills is one of our closest service areas, and one of the most distinctive. The township is heavily wooded and borders the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which changes what chimneys here actually need. Overhanging trees mean more debris in open flues, faster creosote accumulation on wood-burning systems, and far more animal activity than in open suburban areas.

Most of the housing here was built from the 1960s onward, with a mix of full masonry fireplaces and factory-built systems. The recurring calls are annual sweeps on well-used wood burners, cap installations to keep squirrels, raccoons, and chimney swifts out of open flues, and crown and flashing repairs where tree cover has kept masonry damp enough to accelerate freeze-thaw damage.

Damp, shaded masonry deteriorates faster than masonry that dries in the sun — that's the pattern we see across Sagamore Hills. Waterproofing and proper drainage matter more here than almost anywhere else we work, and they're far cheaper than the rebuild they prevent.

Typical Sagamore Hills job: animal removal and capping

A frequent call in the wooded sections: an uncapped flue that a raccoon or a family of squirrels has moved into. We remove the animal humanely, clear the nesting material out of the smoke chamber, sweep and inspect the flue, then fit a proper cap so nothing gets back in.

What Greater Cleveland Homeowners Say

  • Honest Inspection, No Scare Tactics

Another company tried to sell me a full chimney rebuild. Righteous came out, ran a camera inspection, showed me the actual flue, and said all I needed was a sweep and a new cap. Saved me thousands. This is who I'll call from now on.

  • Finally Stopped a Years-Long Leak

Two roofers couldn't figure out where the water was coming from. Righteous found it was the chimney crown and flashing, rebuilt the crown, reflashed, and waterproofed it. Dry through the whole winter for the first time in years.

    Tom B. Euclid, OH
  • Beautiful Tuck Pointing on Our 1920s Home

Our brick was crumbling at the joints. They repointed the whole chimney and a section of wall with mortar that actually matches the original. You can't tell where the new work starts. Craftsmanship you don't see much anymore.

  • Quick, Clean, and Straightforward

Swept the chimney, inspected it, and walked me through everything with photos. Showed up on time, laid down drop cloths, left zero mess. Fair price, no upselling. Exactly how it should be done.

FAQs

Sagamore Hills Chimney & Masonry FAQs

  • Don't light a fire and don't try to smoke it out. We remove animals humanely, clear the nesting debris, inspect the flue for damage, and cap the chimney so it doesn't happen again. Nesting material is also a genuine fire hazard, so the flue needs a proper sweep afterward.

  • Yes, in two ways. Overhanging branches drop debris into open flues and give animals easy access, and heavy shade keeps the masonry damp so it never fully dries between freeze-thaw cycles. Both are manageable with a good cap and proper waterproofing.

  • Once a year at minimum if you burn regularly. Creosote builds up every burning season and it's the leading cause of chimney fires. If you burn a lot of unseasoned wood, it builds faster.
